I created a fillable form in Acrobat X.
Added a submit button
on Actions - trigger- mouse up
select action - "submit a form"
I set the link to mailto:me@mycompany.com
The "PDF The complete document"

The submit works - I receive the email, but the attachment is POSTDATA.ATT.

I know I can rename the file to postdata.pdf, but my users find that unacceptable.

The users browser is naming the file based on it being a web form attachment.  That is the correct file association, so unless you have some way of hacking all the users registries to change that file association
you have to live with it, or come up with some kind of filter on the incoming mail that modifies the names of attached files.

Thanks for your reply, however everything used to work  the way Adobe advertised.
One month ago the user browser sent the attachment as a PDF, not as .ATT.

Research indicated the PDF "Form" is wrong.

Are you saying this could be caused by a Microsoft update? Adobe?

It is possible that an update modified the registry.   POSTDATA.ATT is the way that webforms are supposed to be attached.  If you do a search on Google for POSTDATA.ATT you will find thousands of pages outlining the same problem you have.  What you get are solutions on how to use the file, but I have not seen any that prevent the problem.
