I have a client who has an old file server running Win 2K, a lot of the data has got corrupt over time and he now want's to move all the good data to a Win 2003 server with all the permissions intact but leave the corrupt data behind


Approx 130GB of data
Move Data from Windows 2000 to Windows 2003 with all permissions intact
We do not want to move any corrupted data

first scan the disk with "chkdsk driveletter: /f"

by this time the corrupted data should be delete

restart you system, then look for and delete *.chk files. next move all files in your hard drive.

alternatively, you can use alot of data recovery tools aailable online e.g recuva

You can transfer the folders, files, etc & keep the permissions & security settings the same. You can also adjust the throttle if you are worried about bandwidth when transfering it across the wire.
