I'm running Kubuntu Linux. The printer is a Canon MP640 attached to a Windows XP box. When I try to add the printer using SAMBA, I found out I need to use the IP address of the XP box and I can "connect" but not print. The closest driver on the list is a Canon MP610 which wakes up the printer but doesn't print. I found a link to a Linux driver for the MP640 on the Canon Asia site. When I install it; it says installed successfully, but I can't find it.

I'm sorry I didn't see this yesterday!
I do not have a PPD file the file I got from Canon USA said it installed something but I couldn't find it on the hard drive. I will check the links out this evening.

Thanks!

Hello,

Thanks for the information, but I'm giving up.

I have found several links including the ones you provided. I need a .PPD file but all of the sites show 0 bytes for download and can't be viewed.
I followed the information on the Canon site but it has an install that doesn't produce a .PPD and doesn't add the printer to the list so I can use it with the remote printer.

I guess I'll pull out my old HP laserJet III out and connect it directly.
