Does anyone have tricks to installing W7Pro on a Vostro 1510?  

The installation sees a drive with 0 mb available.

I've attempte to load the AHCI Sata from Intel with no success.
I've also attempted to switch to legacy mode in the bios.  There are two options AHCI and ATA and neither one has any affect.

I wonder about formatting the drive on another system and trying again.

Can you try a different drive??

Just though of this, delete all partitions on the drive adn try again, windows 7 makes multiple partitions while installing.

It's a new drive.  can't delete partitions...because they don't exist yet. (weird).

Does Dell have a drive on there website that you can try?

Tested the drive on another machine....can't init the drive.

Not only that.   Shop where I bought is giving me a hard time replacing it....bad business.

test it with the manufacturers's diag - you find them all on UBCD, and it gives you proof for the disk replacement :
