I'm running IE8 on a W7 desktop. For the last few weeks I've noticed that I can't go back to the previous page regardless of the website. I've ran Spybot and Malwarebytes, but neither fixed the problem. I tried to download IE9 to see if that might fix it, but when I get the security message from Windoes to "Allow or Don't Allow" it just hangs. I then have to go into the task manager and kill IE8. Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated.

I don't have another browser. If I remove IE, how do I get to MS to download IE again?

I looked in control panel and didn't see Google Toolbar. I also  opened IE and looked in tools to see how I could remove the Google Toolbar but didn't find it.....thanks

First of all, don't remove IE.  That is not the problem.

Secondly, it is not the google toolbar causing the problem, but a change to the way that google search pages send the browser off to the target page.

If, indeed, your problem with the Back button only seems to happen when google search pages are involved, then I have not found anyone with a workaround, other than disabling javascript.

The response wasn't as thorough as hoped.
