I got a new iPhone 4s.

There are several issues.

The biggest ones are (1) I can't make any outgoing calls and (2) When I try to make an outgoing call I get a voice message it's VERY FAINT, I can't figure out how to turn up the volume of the voice reception on the phone itself so I can understand what it's saying.

Every other CONCEIVABLE option is available under settings, but nothing to turn up the volume.

I had an original iPhone, it was great.

This is very disappointing, I will probably return it today.

Is there any thing I can do?

Thanks

These issues you've encountered are not normal, when we say not "normal" it is not likely to happen.

What you need to do is to return to the shop where you bought your iPhone and if they're giving you new one be sure that before you accept the new iPhone be sure to test if it is having that same list of issues as above.

You can also try to reset and reinstall the current firmware through iTunes.
Usually that fixes most problems if there are any.
If that doesn't help, I fear you have to return your phone and have it replaced.

To all,

There is no way to turn up the volume of the voice you hear on the phone?

That sounds like a BIG defect.

Oh, of course you can turn the volume up, just press the volume up/down buttons on the side of the phone while you call someone...

To all:

Regarding the volume problem, I found a thread here that implies that it requires a 3rd party app???

http://www.iphoneforums.net/forum/iphone-help-15/low-volume-problem-2360/

That's UNBELIEVABLE. That's a defective product.

I'm returning mine for sure.

To clamps,

If you can't make a call that's a little hard to do.

When I press those buttons it says Ringer Volume up (or down).

To clamps,

Most of the time, nothing. A few times, a VERY FAINT voice is saying something I can't hear.

But my wife already took it back so hopefully another one will work. I asked her specifically to make a call & to find out how to adjust the volume BEFORE she leaves the shop.

Thanks

Problem not solved, points awarded for effort.

Phone being returned.

Disappointed to have so many problems with what is supposedly an intuitive device.

As already said, there is no need to make such hassles, return and get a new iPhone. That's it end of story.
