I have setup DFS replication and namespace for 2 remote site - Sydney and Melbourne. Replication is working, however some namespace is not accessing from the Melbourne site. 2 of the replicated folders does not have the shared folder icons.

When mapping drive using SOME of the namespace e.g. \\domain.local\Accounts, it could not be mapped or access. Some namespace can be mapped and access with no problem. I am aware that the namespace is case-sensitive.

This lead to my question of whether if there is a need for further configuration in order to localize network traffic when accessing namespace. So that Melbourne user accessing the namespace, they will be accessing the files on the Melbourne file server instead of the Sydney file server. Any insight will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Before I can get the namespace sorted out, I have tried mapping network drive on Melbourne File Server for Melbourne users. Another weird thing I have noticed is, when I tried to map drive \\MELFS02\Market, it shows up as empty but I am able to access files from Start->Run, \\MELFS02\Market

What about access/rights/permissions on those folders? Any Local  file system  policies?
Maybe link below can help:

You need to have AD sites and Services properly configured in order to get directed to the closest DFS replica.

Run a DFS replication diagnostic to see if you have replication issues.

Thanks guys for your comments.

On the Melbourne file server, when clicking on some of the namespace, there is a red cross with the error - The namespace cannot be queried. Element not found. These are the namespace that are created before I took over the management of these servers. The rest that I have added later on has no issues.
Please see attached screenshot. How can I resolve or troubleshoot this?

Found a few related article, but no clear steps to resolve this.

You can delete the namespace without affecting the replication group. I actually do not setup replication when setting up a namespace. I setup replication separately.
