Hi,

I'm new to java/jsp technology.

My request here is..
1. I would like to have a webpage deploy on Oracle HTTP Server (or any other suggestion) running on Linux.
2. with a free text field to accept a string and a submit button.
3. once I enter a value and hit submit...would like to query/fetch oracle 11g database based on free text field criteria (where clause)
4. display it on the same page or open a new page
5. I might be able to query cascading DBs (2nd db query based on 1db result,)

it dont have to be fancy but would like to achieve this.

Can you help please

Since I'm kind of new ...would really appreciate the steps...
1. to deploy this web app on OHS
2. Sample script to cover above items 1-4
3. any additional resources

Thanks in advance

Oracle HTTP Server is not what you need. You need to configure a servlet container that can retrieve a ResultSet. Tomcat is the usual choice for Java

OR ...(non-Java solution) much simpler - install Apache on your Linux box together with PhpMyAdmin. Job done (plus a lot more functionality)

For installation and deployment information for Oracle HTTP server and using JSP pages, you should follow the Oracle documentation:
http://download.oracle.com/otndocs/tech/ias/portal/files/RG/OBE/deployj2ee/deployj2ee.htm

Basically, download the various pieces, configure them, and start the processes.

>>For installation and deployment information for Oracle HTTP server ...

They describe it there as "Oracle Application Server 10g". Is it the same product?

I mean here ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oracle_HTTP_Server ) it's made to sound like a *totally* different product ...

Oracle's web server is a perfectly decent web server.

There's also no reason the asker can't run Tomcat as the front end on an Oracle db.
