Hello techs.  I recently bought the Nero cd copy software to make music CD's.  I thought it was possible to put a bunch of music onto a DVD as well.  But when the Nero software wouldnt burn to a CDRW or DVD, only CDR I called the pay tech support (horrible btw) and a tech told me that there are hardly any disc players out there that read music files off a DVD.  I didnt know this.  And I wonder if you all have heard the same thing.  Thank you, Mark88

Many newer players will accept MP3 files off a data CD but there aren't many standard music players which accept DVD discs at all.  Many DVD players will also play MP3 files off data DVDs and also note there is a DVD-Audio format but this is rarely used.  Fundamentally, the DVD disc requires a different laser in the player - CD players simply do not have the technology inside them to understand DVD discs.

CD players are just that, CD players, and generally cannot play music from DVDs because they are made differently, and different hardware is required to read them. You might be able to make music DVDs that could be played in a DVD player, but it would really depend on the DVD player.

good question.  nero is a tricky program to figure out, i never liked it much.  i just usually use windows media player to burn my mp3's onto a cd.  or if i want a backup disc with all my mp3s on, i just go the the blank cd from my computer and drag the mp3's onto the disc right there.  that seems your best bet as well if you want to burn them on to a dvd.  you have to make sure you have a dvd burner though.  if you have an older laptop or computer, you may just have a cd/rw and a dvd rom.  that means you can burn cds, and not dvds.  i think that is what you might have.  so check that out first.  you can do that by putting in a blank dvd into the drive and then trying to drag files onto it from my computer cd drive.  i think some of the newer car cd players have a dvd mp3 option, but that is very new software and i doubt it is widely available yet.  let me know if you got any questions.
