Hello and thank you for your time and attention to my question.

We have 2003 DC (users have roaming profiles).
We are installing new server 2008 R2.
I need to prep the 2003 DC forest for the 2008 server.

Can someone please provide me instructions on how to perform this successfully.

Many thanks in advance.

Raise your functional levels to 2003 .... the 2008 disk should have adprep utility you can run after your forest and domain are at 2003 functional level. Hoping you have no 2000 servers? :)

So I raise the functional level to of domain forest to 2003 then run addprep /forestprep form cd?

Just want to make sure i got this right.

Will i need to reboot before running addprep /forestprep after raising the functional level ?

Thank you..

no reboot should be necessary. just make sure you raise the level of the forest AND the domain...two separate functions

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/322692  - should give you a good guide for both.
