I have 1 user that is using outlook 2007 and the rest are using 2003. This 2007 outlook keeps asking for the exchange\network password but what is weird at the top is says the connection is remote.domain.com. I have checked in the profile settings under connection tab and nothing is selected. I also created a new profile and still asks. I have tried the format of just the username and password and also domain\username and password. If I close Outlook and reopen it, it will download any new messages but after a minute it will ask for the password again.

1) Please run test email autoconfiguration and check whether any of the URL's is pointing to remote.domain.com

Press [CTRL] and right click on the Outlook icon from task bar one of the hidden options available is "Test E-mail Autoconfiguration". Is it possible to run this configuration test program

2) Also check in IIS manager to see if there are any website or virtual directory called Remote. If yes, Check the authentications on that particular virtual directory.

autoconfiguration was unable to determine your settings

IIS: I did set the remote address up.
anonymous auth                 enabled
ASP .NET Impersonation    Disabled
Basic Auth                         Disabled
Digest Auth                        Disabled
Forms Auth                        Enabled
Windows Auth                   Disabled   I am going to guess that this should be enabled

If I do enable it I get the warning: Challenge-based and login redirect-based authentication cannot be used simultaneously

Patch your server. Exchange SP1 UR9 resolves the issue you are seeing.
