Dear Expert,
I'm looking for an easy and convinient way to separate text strings with the help of a formula.
I need Type, Trans Date, Post Date, Description and Amount. Type can vary from 3 to 6 letters..other values also can vary...

Hello,

with a data sample like this, you can use the Text to Columns command. Select "delimited" and then the "comma" as the delimiter.

Step by step:
Select all cells with data, for example column A
Click Data > Text to Columns
Select "Delimited" and click "Next"
Tick the "comma" box and click Next
Select the columns with the dates and specify the date format, e.g. DMY or MDY, according to what the dates represent (it's not clear from the data sample, could be either)

Click "Finish" and you will find five columns with the data separated out nicely.

See attached file. Columns A started out with the same data as is in column I. Then just follow the steps outlined above.
