When syncing I get the error ""the mp3 format is not supported by the device and no converter was found to convert it" of course, we know it is supported. I am just trying to add audio to the phone.

Ubuntu 10.04
Banshee 1.6.1
Droid 2 phone Android 2.3.3

I just used Rythmbox. I'ts syncing right now with Rythmbox, no problem. Banshee it my preferred. I updated banshee by installing the ppa. When I then started Banshee, it crashed immediately.  After this sync finishes in a couple hours I will try to get Banshee running.

I am going by the bottom two links. The top one is not relevant to my issue.

there is a solution said :
"I've had similar, but different, problems with my Motorola Milestone (Droid). Syncinc with Rhythmbox might have worked onces, but now Banshee, Rhythmbox and mtp-tools all fail, giving different errors. And yes, sometimes Banshee does crash.

The "solution" is to just mount the SD card on your phone (on the phone's USB management just select "SD card access" ubuntu should do the rest). Then shove our songs straight into the "music/" directory. Then properly unmount the SD card. (It seems that just switching USB modes from the phone is as bad as unplugging the cable.)

The phone is smart enough to find the files, extract the album + artiest names. It even works with Ogg Vorbis."
is that will help?

It seems there are a couple ways around this problem. I can't argue with your solution even though if I had exactly what I wanted, Banshee would work. Problem solved.
